Charging up: Rivian’s IPO

When Rivian, an electric-truck manufacturer, lists in New York on Wednesday, it will seek a valuation of around $67bn, not far below the market capitalisation of Ford (an investor) and above Honda’s. That would be an impressive feat for an unprofitable 12-year-old startup that made its first deliveries in September and lost nearly $1bn in the first half of the year.
